Dianella Plaza’s Remarkable Impact: 108 Tonnes of Clothing Diverted from Landfill! At Dianella Plaza, sustainability is more than just a concept—it’s a community-driven effort that continues to make a significant impact. Over the course of 2024, an incredible 108,000 kgs (108 tonnes) of used clothing were collected from the donation bins at Dianella.
This outstanding achievement highlights the commitment of our local community to reducing textile waste and supporting a global reuse and recycling network.
Where Do the Clothes Go?
Once collected, the clothing is carefully bagged into large bales, each weighing 165 kgs, before being sent to Malaysia. There, they undergo a meticulous process of sorting and cleaning before being distributed to international clients. Australian clothing is highly regarded in the global charity market for its quality and durability, making it a valuable resource for people in need worldwide.
Why It Matters
Textile waste is a growing environmental challenge, with millions of tonnes of clothing ending up in landfills every year. By donating pre-loved garments, the Dianella community plays a vital role in extending the lifespan of clothing, reducing landfill waste, and supporting sustainable fashion practices.
A Heartfelt Thank You
