Try Coles Recipe of Monster Face Cake this Halloween!

This recipe takes approx. 1 hour 30 min to make and will produce approx. 24 spooky people to decorate your Halloween table!

Ingredients

  • 500g Coles Simply Dark Chocolate Buttons
  • 1 cup (250ml) thickened cream
  • 3 x Coles Mud Cakes
  • 625g pkt ready-to-roll rainbow icing
  • 1kg pkt ready-to-roll white icing
  • Icing sugar mixture, to dust
  • 1/4 cup (80g) apricot jam, melted, strained
  • Cornflour, to dust
  • 4 Allen’s Minties
  • 2 Coles Vanilla-Flavoured Cornet
  • Ice Cream Cones

Method:

  1. Melt Chocolate and Cream over simmering water. Stir for 5 minutes until smooth and refrigerate for 30 minutes to thicken, then stir again until smooth.
  2. Trim the cake tops and set aside. Layer cakes with the chocolate mixture. Trim cake edges and create a dome with reserved cake trimmings and chocolate. Spread the cake with chocolate mixture and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. Cut the eyes and mouth holes in the cake. Fill the holes with chocolate mixture and refrigerate.
  4. Make purple icing by combining red, blue, and white icing. Coat the cake with jam and roll out purple icing. Cover the cake with purple icing and smooth it over the cake.
  5. Make eyes by cutting the white icing discs and layer with green and black icing. Attach the eye details and place on a tray.
  6. Cut Minties into teeth-sized pieces and arrange inside the mouth. Create lips and attach them around the mouth.
  7. Trim Cones for horns and attach them to the cake. Wrap the horns with yellow and purple icing ropes.
  8. Attach the eyes and create nose holes with a paintbrush.
  9. Decorate the monster’s head with green and yellow icing discs.
